When Echo was a puppy I was going to place her at 9 weeks old
because I wanted to keep her litter brother. When it came time
to make my final decision I couldn't let her go. Her brother did
finish easy, but we have no regrets in our choice to keep Echo
as part of our show team. Echo finished with ease from the puppy
class then sat home while I was campaigning her half sister
Blue. When Echo was 17 months old we entered her in a few shows
to get her some ring experience before the 2007 Akita Nationals.
Her first weekend she won BOB both days. The following weekend
she won 2 supported entries and her first Best in Specialty win
along with a Group 2 under Breeder Judge Rita Biddle. She went
on to the 2007 Nationals to receive an AOM at 17 months of age.
We showed her the remaining part of 2007 and she was ranked a
top ten Akita all this before the age of 2.
At the end of May 2009 we began showing Echo full time, she
quickly moved up the rankings and finished as the Number 1 Bitch
in the country and the Number 3 Akita (all breed). In 2010 at 4
years old Echo had matured into a
beautiful bitch and began her "Reign of Glory" becoming
America's Number one Akita All Systems. In 2010 alone Echo
had collected 10 Best in Shows, 4 Best in Specialty Shows
(including winning BOB at the 2010 Akita Club of America
National) 44 Group Firsts, totaling 100 placements in the
working group for 2010. This accomplishment makes Echo one
of the top Akita bitches in the history of our breed.
We are very thankful to all of Echo’s friends and supporters
especially Ryan Dillman for showing Echo in 2007 and for
pushing me to show her in 2010 and Paul Levesque for his
expert handling not just with Echo but all my dogs.
Also a big thank you to Dr. Rebecca
Kestle for awarding Echo Best of Breed at the 2010 ACA National
in Gettysburg PA a win we will never forget. What more can we
say, but Thanks for the memories Echo, and for being such a
wonderful ambassador for our breed.
